Weekend ramblings

Yesterday (Monday) was a public holiday, so we spent a nice long weekend at home with the dogs. Did a bit of cleaning up around the house while at the same time having fun with Sam and Rosie. Here's an account of some of the things we got up to...

Remember how small Rosie was?
Well, she's grown... Caught her and Sam in bed together (again!) and decided to take a pic for comparison. See? Told ya she'd catch up :)
Noon weighed her on our bathroom scales and found she's now 28kgs

Seeing as the weather was sunny and warm on Saturday, we decided to give them a bath... after which they decided it would be nice to sit in the sun to dry off.

I previously had a hammock strung up in the backyard under a tree. Nice shady spot perfect for an afternoon snooze or a good book. Unfortunately, I'd left it out one afternoon and Sam and Rosie decided that it would make a nice tug-toy while mummy and daddy were away at work. It got wrecked, and I no longer had a hammock.

So... off we went on Sunday to get a new one! Guess who decided to give it a try!

Not to be outdone, Rosie tried to get in on the action as well. Unfortunately, Sam wouldn't budge and Rosie's not such a good jumper.

Sunday turned out to be a scorcher of a day! Temperatures outside were hitting the mid 30s, it seemed, and the only cool place to be was inside with the air conditioner on. Noon and I remembered that we had received an ice cream maker as a wedding gift last year, and thought it would be a good time to whip up a nice cool snack for the four of us (yes, the dogs too!). Banana ice cream, it would be!

Chucked all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and broke out our handy hand-held blender (another wedding gift!)

Just about ready to go... The mixture was then poured into the machine and left to churn.

We played around with Rosie while we waited, Noon flopped her ears back and took this picture.

After about 40 minutes, it was done. Well, Noon said it was.... methinks she simply couldn't wait any longer :)

We heaped a generous amount into Sam's and Rosie's bowls, and put the rest of it away for another portion for the next day. Oh, and Noon and I did have some ourselves too, of course.

I wonder if dogs get ice cream headaches. They gobbled it up pretty quick... guess they must like it then. Not bad, considering it was our first try at making homemade ice cream. It was also the dogs' first taste of the stuff :)

And here's what Noon cooked up for our dinner on Monday night. Chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese, on a bed of penne pasta with cream of tomato and mushroom sauce. Was very yummy!

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!
